Bonding Leave

All benefits-eligible employees who have had a child through birth, adoption or the placement of a foster child receive six weeks of paid bonding leave. Bonding leave is paid through REI payroll and will appear on your pay statement under the Parental Leave pay code.

This leave can be taken at any time during the first year following a child’s birth, adoption or placement for adoption or foster care. Unless otherwise allowed by law, bonding leave can be taken as one continuous leave, or it can be taken in two increments. If taken in two increments, each must be no less than two work weeks in length.

As applicable, REI paid bonding leave will run concurrently with state, federal or REI leaves. You must be employed at REI and eligible for REI benefits at the time of your child’s birth, adoption or foster placement to be eligible for bonding leave.
